Ok, so the last post I entered was about eight years ago. It’s not like I haven’t had things to say; I’ve been busy and wanted to talk about it, but haven’t had the space to breathe, so here’s a potted summary in my attempt to catch up.
Projects I’m proud of:
The London Paper Library
Vivacity
Last Mango in Paris will be performing ‘Broken English’ at the Clore Ballroom in the Royal Festival Hall on 22nd December.
I curated an amazing event at Stoke Newington International Aiport, which featured Jasmine Cooray, Stacy Makishi, Michael Horovitz, Camilo Menjura, Voice, Ventriloquist and Shama Rahman. Chris Ventriloquist and I have formed a new company, and performed our new show, ‘The Girl Who Learnt To Beatbox Out Of Her Ass’, which is irreverent but highly amusing.
The last Tongue Fu’s have been amazing; here’s two reviews:
Spoonfed
CtrlAltShift
I put lots of video up from the last one here.
I’ve facilitated workshops on comics, poetry, and sustainable fashion, and a show I directed earlier this year was reshown as part of National Youth Work Week. I also hosted an event at the not-for-proft Lexi cinema in West London. All profits go to the Sustainability Insititute in South Africa.
Lyrics of mine have been featured on tracks by Bandish Projeckt, Nucleya and State of Bengal.
Interview with me here.
The most inspiring thing I’ve ever read here.
Things I’m into:
Dizreali
Age of Stupid
Birds on Wires
Peace Tax Seven
the forest
Sarah Silverman
Sell the Vatican, feed the world!
mary oliver’s ‘the journey’
Happy little Africans

Hmmm, first a big thanks for the show/event/happening whatever, I enjoyed it, at Sarf Bank Centre a couple of days ago. This is my first introduction to the world of Shane Solanki, and it was fun. I really didn’t know what to expect and I didn’t get what I expected. I’m normally based either in the Middle East or Former Soviet Union so I don’t have a great chance to get out gigging these days. I’ve been a fan of declamation since the heady happy days of John Cooper Clarke and early Benjamin Zephaniah, Seething/Susan Wells and Attilla the Kenlivingstonelookalike and I’d just like to say thanks for continuing this great art. By the way, don’t get a telly! I haven’t had one for 10 years. Life’s more fun and it generates a great social life.
Cheers and thanks.
